I know. This is something that we hear almost everyday, in every media, by many people (who probably know what they're talking about). But (and here it comes!):
WE SHOULD BE SO DARN THANKFUL FOR WHAT WE HAVE.
Even when we can't afford the newest and coolest iPhone model or brand new designer clothes, travel wherever and whenever we want, eat in luxurious restaurants and live in a three-story high contemporary glass house with an ocean view. Even when our salary is not as big as we'd like it to be. Even when the rent is too high.
YOU CAN'T ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU WANT.
Because, still, there is something we have and others do not. It's a place called home, and we're probably surrounded by people called family. Sure, some of us do not feel very comfortable at home, or we argue a lot with the members of our family. I realize that- nothing is perfect, just as it never was or will be. But what would it be like without them? What if there was noone who would hear you out, help you or with whom you could talk about your problems? And I don't mean just our consanguineous family, but also the one we choose- our friends, lovers, boyfriends, girlfriends... Because no matter how many people will let you down, there's always someone you can count on. Sure, even the greatest friendships and relationships end sometimes, our beloved ones lie to us, disappoint us. But that's just life- and it doesn't mean it's not worth trying all over again, or, that they didn't have an appropriate reason. By which I don't mean that it's okay to lie.
Anyway, what I was starting to talk about was gratitude. For life, for being alive and experiencing everything that is given to us, for everything that we can undertake here.
For health, because that is one of the most important things in life. And we should cherish it as well.
Because there are people who have only one wish: They wish to be healthy.
Recently, I was watching a TV programme that was held by one charity that helps families, especially kids, in need. There were so many sorrowful yet beautiful stories; and as I was watching (and crying a bit, I must admit) I realized that those kids are braver and have more courage than most of us. They do not whine about their hard destiny that they had not chosen, but still their smile stays on their faces.
I think there is some lesson to be learned.
Everyday, yes, everyday there is something to be thankful for. Yes, of course, some days can be worse than others, but still. Mostly it is not as bad as it seems.
